I get my brows done at Tai Brows DC by Kira. This was my 3rd time getting my brows done by her (2nd touch-up). My first session was in December 2014 - it's been 2 years (photos below)! I found her through saaammage. I fell in love with the way Kira did her 'stroke patterns'... they looked so natural! Kira had just gotten her cosmetics licensing at the time, but she had only done microblading on a few people. Her prices were still cheap, and I felt like I had found a gold mine 'cause I thought she was so talented. At the time, I had been looking for the perfect artist to do my brows for YEARS. I just hadn't found the person who could make it look natural enough, especially for brows like mine, which were almost non-existent. My favorite part about Kira is that she really takes her time with her clients, she never rushes the process. She took an hour drawing the brow shape for a friend of mine and only moved on until my friend was satisfied. Real customer service!

    Healing process

    2nd touch-up
Dry healing. Brows untouched for the first week (no makeup, face wash, etc.)
    Day 1:

Brows appear super dark from the redness underneath.

    Day 2:

Brows still appear dark but redness underneath starting to fade.

    Day 3:

I think my brows looked the best on this day.

    Day 4:

You will start to notice some peeling...
It is important not to scratch/pick at the scabs. Just let them fall off naturally -- VERY HARD TO DO! Thankfully for me I didn't have anywhere to go while I was healing.

    Day 8:

Most of the scabs have fallen off... You will notice I still have some scabbing left on my left eyebrow, near the top.
My skin looks pink underneath and the brow markings have faded. This is normal. I was told the markings will darken up within a couple of weeks. But oh how I wish they stayed as dark as they did on 'day 3' !

    2 weeks later:

Completely healed brows. The strokes stayed super fine, and I maintained most of the pigment!
The strokes have also darken back up as promised.

    A brief history...

    My first session, December 2014

I was bald !!! Microblading changed my life.

    1st touch-up, 2015

It is vital that you go for a touch-up right after your first session because it fades a lot.

Kira's technique has changed so much since my first session with her. She supports "dry healing" now, which evidently retains the pigment better. She also uses a better numbing cream (I only felt light pressure), which I loved because I have a very low tolerance for pain. Her stroke patterns have also changed! I didn't think I could love my brows even more. I am OBSESSED with them.

    A gift from Influenster...

I received the kit in Medium Light
2 foundation shades: Amber & Radiant
    1 blush: Sheer Honey
    2 eyeshadows: Oyster/Supernova
    1 lip/cheek stain: Forever Peach

Kits comes in 3 other shades: Light, Medium, Medium Dark
    $33 at Jane Iredale

I LOVED the foundation shades. They were medium-full coverage. I used them mostly to "bake" my undereye area and it brightened it. The eyeshadows weren't very pigmented so I wasn't impressed. The blush and lip/cheek stain is pretty nice. Overall, I'm pleased with it. Very travel-friendly and the kit is beautiful. I would purchase just for the quality of the 2 foundation shades.

    Closeups & swatches

Vita Liberata 2-3 Week Tan Lotion in 'Medium' — $7.14
I'm already tan, and I naturally tan quite easily, so I won't be needing this.
No swatches because I'm giving it away :)

bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie™ Lipstick in Get Ready — $7.71
    A warm rosy pink.

bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie™ Lipstick in 'Get Ready'
    Creamy, pigmented, and moisturizing.

Chella Indigo Blue Eyeliner — $24
My favorite item in the bag! I cannot begin to describe how amazing this eyeliner is.
Vibrant color, pigmented, glides on smoothly, sets quickly, smudge-proof, long-lasting, ...

Be A Bombshell Eyeshadow Quad in 'Bora Bora' — $16
Comes in 4 shades! These eyeshadows are unbelievably creamy... like butter on my fingers.

Be A Bombshell Eyeshadow Quad in 'Bora Bora'

    Closeups & swatches

Pop Beauty Plump Pout in 'Fuchsia Freesia' — $7.50
I am actually surprisingly obsessed with this! The color is opaque and long-lasting.
Not sticky at all. The only bad thing is the smell of burnt plastic.

Eyetini Shadow + Base in 'Violette' — $18
Another item I didn't think I would love as much as I do.

Not a fan of the color BUT this works as an AMAZING base/primer.
So pigmented, but can be sheered out.
    Easy to blend, creamy formula.
Not sticky, but eyeshadows adhere to it.
Eye makeup didn't crease & lasted for hours.

Like any great primer, it made my eyeshadows look more vibrant. Nothing like a good color payoff eh?

    J.Cat Beauty Eyelashes + Eyelash Glue — $3.99
When I told my husband in excitement that these lashes were made out of 100% human hair, his response was - "Ew?" hahaha.

I'm in my false lashes phase right now, so these are perfect. My hubby likes them because they look natural. The glue was ok... I will not be using it again because the lashes came off a little bit after a few hours.

Influenster's The Sally Hansen Total Knock Out VoxBox
Not just one, but THREE polishes to try out!

I haven't gotten one of these since June, my goodness.
I've even accepted my fate of never receiving a single VoxBox again.
    Influenster, you do love me.

*picture heavy* (for lack of words)

Red My Lips (candy apple red), Jaded (Tiffany blue), Pat on the Black (dark plum)

    LOTS OF CLAIMS

    Jaded & Red My Lips

OPACITY: Red My Lips & Pat on the Black were very opaque - you only needed 1 coat for the color to appear as it does in the bottle. I loved that ! Jaded went on quite sheer, but you can build it up to look like the color in the bottle (it took me 3 coats - shown in picture above).

BRUSH: What I noticed first about the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure was its wide, flat brush. The tip of the brush was oval, I assume to match the oval shape of our cuticles, resulting in an easier and overall better application! The flat brush made it so effortless to evenly distribute the polish all across the nail. This also makes it less likely for the polish to streak. Although the formula is so rich and creamy that I doubt you would even experience streaking in the first place.

SHINE: The second thing I noticed was how shiny the finish was. I usually pat on the top coat to have my nails have that super shiny look. A friend of mine even thought I had gel nails on, haha! You need not a topcoat with the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure.

DRY TIME: Another amazing surprise…. it really DOES dry fast (or at least, faster than most polishes I've tried). This makes me very happy, mainly because I'm clumsy and I often mess up my nails right after they've been painted.

LONGEVITY: I wore Pat on the Black (3 coats) for an entire week before the color starts chipping. I did minimal things that involved my hands, but it was still pretty amazing.

GROWTH: My nails usually grow out pretty fast on their own, so I didn't notice any difference in growth.

COLOR: So far there's 50 available colors to choose from !

Overall, I'm really impressed with the Sally Hansen Total Salon Manicure polish. Great quality and value for the price. I put it in the same category as some of my beloveds, Orly and Zoya. A+
